IPStudios Summer Re-cap

Posted Sep 2nd, 2014

Well, here we are. The kids are back to school, routines have interrupted our lazy summer activities and the days are noticeably shorter. How did this happen so quickly? Not sure if it's a symptom of approaching 40 or a side effect of parenthood, but life sure seems to be flying by! It's been a fantastic summer and I've made every effort to soak it in and make many wonderful memories. Here are a few highlights!

In May I was fortunate enough to welcome my first Summer Intern to the business! Daiane Correa is a computer science exchange student from Brazil, spending a few semesters at Brock University. With her serious coding skills and her knack for problem solving, she made headway on some app research I've been developing over the last 6 months. She was great fun to have around the office and we enjoyed learning fun facts about Brazil and the Portuguese language...although none of us have successfully pronounced her name! We will miss having Daiane around and wish her all the best as she completes the final semester here in Canada.

Image Propeller continues to grow and change and I'm always grateful for my wonderful clients, alliances and mentors who have helped shape and support the business. Last month, the great Larry Bitner, my business mentor and now client from the Niagara College Business Development Centre, requested to have an Image Propeller team photo taken for the NCBDC Pinterest page. This was a great opportunity to gather some of the key people who have impacted the business over the last couple years. Have a look at the Pinterest photos here.

Now onto some cool client work...

eHealth Ontario Whiteboard - This was a fun and challenging project as the main focus was on character design and animations. Integrating these elements with a voiceover, the human hand drawing along with color and style took a great deal of planning and careful execution. It's still in production with the client, but here are some screenshots:

Niagara College Business Development Centre has developed an online learning strategy. It was very exciting when they approached us to create a 10 minute webinar for one of the Business Development Classes. This webinar is meant to reinforce what is taught in the class and walk the students through interactive exercises. The webinar has proven to be successful for everyone involved, so we're already working on the second video in the series! It is a pleasure working with Larry Bitner and the BDC team and we look forward to ongoing projects with them. Here are more screenshots.

And the client work wasn't all whiteboard videos. If you follow our Facebook page, you will know that I had the exciting opportunity to create this video for the upcoming FITC Web Unleashed conference this September. This project was a ton of fun and I look forward to doing more work for the upcoming FITC Toronto in 2015. Very exciting stuff!

And with all this business stuff going on, we still managed to have a ton of fun with family and friends. Here's a glimpse of Image Propeller off the clock.

And that wraps it up for our current business updates and fun. What a great summer! Hope it was awesome for you as well.
